The simplest supper.  A plate of bruschetta.

Seed and dice a few plum tomatoes
Tear a few leaves of basil into small bits
Toast slices of Ciabatta on a grill or in the broiler then rub one side of each slice with a peeled clove of garlic
Mound the tomatoes on the toast
Add a few pieces of the basil
Drizzle with olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste

Sometimes I'd rather just be one of my cats.  Then they could feed me, they could open the door every time I wanted in or out, they could make sure my water bowl was full and forgive me if I had a neurotic habit of pushing my water bowl across the kitchen floor constantly.

I'd be cajoled (and forgiven for intemperate language) when I'm irritated over being left out on my own all day just because I'd had a last minute urge to get a breath of air just as they were about to leave for the day.  It's just those little things I think I'd enjoy once in awhile.

I doubt they'd see it that way...

Kitchen Conversations

Just more playing at the table.

I have had two of the most soul-satisfying conversations with old friends this evening. Just talking about love, loss, creativity, and the lives we live.

The Kitchen Table

I have a gallery in National Geographic's Your Shot.  They run assignments for the photographers who use the site. The most recent is "Time Capsule".  The editor wants a shot from now that could have been taken at anytime in the past.  I was trying to figure out what I could think of to submit.  After I set the bread on the table to rise and started trimming the beans from the garden it suddenly occurred to me...

Color Seeking II

I couldn't resist my work shoes.  They sit by the kitchen door waiting to go out to play like an expectant puppy.

I just have to add a cosy shot from yesterday's shoot:

Since they keep coming up and it was time to paint the kitchen chairs I took a cue from the garden.

For the second time since March I have been greeted by Forget-Me-Nots blooming, unexpectedly, in the garden, though not the same variety. The first were the common annual and this new one is a perennial.

I do love mysteries, especially if they are poetic.

The Conductor

The conductor was standing directly under the lights. I couldn't resist the shadow shot and silhouette of her legs.
